About likeness and to paint
We need to keep and save what We have seen in order to save ourselves. Because maybe we are what we see or look at, like the Chinese landscape painter said "the brush is for saving things from the Chaos" saving us from chaos... And as John Berger said "painting is an affirmation of the existent".. we do that to ensure we are here, that we are as we are.
John Berger said "to get inside things (that means to get a likeness) you have to break down with rules, reasoning, hierarchies and so on... Even you get madness or taking risks to get it.
likeness is not something real, everybody has differents likeness of the others. Why? Because everyone do not have the same sight of the world.

Edouard Manet, Bar At The Folies Bergere, 1882
This painting talks about a encounter between the painter and his model, but there is something interesting here, it is if you look at it, you realize that you are the painter who have painted it.
